Lu Hardin
Former President of the University of Central Arkansas
Lu Hardin was the former president of the University of Central Arkansas. He has called his career at the University of Central Arkansas “the love of my life,”. Hardin is a former State Senator in the 12th Senate District, and a former strong candidate for the U.S. Senate.
Hardin cited health reasons for his decision to step down. Hardin said his decision will give him time to heal physically and allow UCA’s faculty and student body to heal emotionally from the bonus controversy.
Hardin served as president at UCA for six years. He recently had surgery for cancer in his right eye and doctors placed a radioactive plate behind the eye in the hopes of shrinking a malignant tumor.
Lu was born in White County Arkansas in 1951. He lives in Russellville with his wife Mary Bowen. They have one daughter and one son.
