It was in 2005 that he entered into the biggest battle of his life when he was diagnosed with Burkitt’s Lymphoma Cancer. Joe was treated with intensive chemotherapy for 8 months at MD Anderson in Houston, TX. Back home in Arkansas and around the world his church and football family and friends cried out to God for healing on his behalf. Joe went into remission and began the road to recovery. But in 2008 his faith was tested again when he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and ended up with a rare pneumonia in Intensive Care.
